The overarching sentiment in both of Tony's families is: There must be more money. But the sluggish economy hasn't been good for the family business, and there's been zero growth in receipts.
None of that matters to Carmela. Anxious about her financial security, she's not afraid to help herself when the occasion arises. So when one of Tony's mistresses calls the house crying into the phone, a fed up Carmela tosses him out.
As for the other women in Tony's life: Meadow, still reeling from her boyfriend's death, has lost interest in school. When she talks about heading off to Europe to find herself, Tony's afraid he has another Janice on his hands. The future is looking even worse for Christopher's girlfriend, Adriana. It turns out that her new best friend the one she brought with her to the Soprano's Sunday dinner is really an undercover agent.
